Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
Requests for repeat prescriptions will not be accepted over the telephone.
Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:
- By Hand– drop your repeat slip in at reception with the required items clearly marked.
- By Post– send it to us with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.
- Online - via the link at the top of this page. If you are not registered for online services please contact the surgery to obtain login details.
Please allow at least 48 hours between requesting and collecting your medication.
Repeat prescriptions are not done automatically- you will still have to request your prescription.
Ordering Your Prescription Online
To access the online prescription service, you must first register with one of the apps, either SystmOnline, MyGP, or the NHS App. Registration for the NHS App requires a mobile phone number and an e-mail- further details can be found here. Your NHS App registration can then be used to access the MyGP App (you may need to attend the surgery if you are unsuccessful with registration). SystmOnline requires you to contact the surgery to request a username and password. In order to recieve these, you must come into reception with proof of I.D. please ring the surgery if you are unsure of what I.D. to bring. Further information on registering for SystmOnline can be found here.
To use the SystmOnline app, please click on the link at the top of the page- this will take you direct to SystmOnline.
Alternatively, you can also use the MyGP app, and the NHS app.

Prescription Fees
Help with NHS costs
In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
- those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
- those who are age exempt
- those with certain medical conditions
- More information is available at NHS Choices
If you would like to apply for an exemption from Prescriptions Charges due to a medical condition, please come to reception and ask for a form to fill out. Further information on medical exemption can be found on the NHS website..
NHS Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
- Prescription (per item): £9.65
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
- 3-month PPC: £31.25
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
- Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
- General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
